26-29 October 2022 - The Railway Children

Marian Terry - I have just returned from the Bob Hope Theatre Eltham after watching Eldorado Musical Productions excellent THE RAILWAY CHILDREN. Massive congratulations to the cast and director Barbara Archer for a very enjoyable evening. I was in the back row and could hear every word spoken on stage, no microphones. Enjoy the rest of the week. 👏👏 xx

Debs Norton - Saw Eldorado's 'The Railway Children' tonight at the Bob Hope directed by Barbara Archer. Really charming, funny and clever I thought. Well done to all the cast, especially Natalie Jo, Diane Adcock and Robin Collett. Peter Evans I loved your accent!  😊

Miranda -  Fab evening of theatre to celebrate Margrets birthday with Pam. Special thanks to Sarah, Stuart, Sandra and the whole eldorado team for a great performance! You were all amazing!

Niamh - Great opening show.. All those rehearsals have paid off. Well done props... stage crew.... Front of house.... Costumes.... Cast.....and director.. Enjoy rest of the run!!!

Steve Milton Just home from a lovely evening at the Bob Hope Theatre watching EMP's The Railway Children. Such a feel good show. We all left with great big smiles on our faces. Congratulations to all Cast, (some delightful performances) crew and Production team. If you haven't got tickets get some, and switch off the outside World, if only for a few hours ♥

Sarah Pinel I got asked where was I born in Yorkshire as they thought the accent was real!

Katrina Summerfield "Such a trip down memory lane this evening. I remember reading the story of The Railway Children as a young girl and it was so good to see it brought to life. The children were charming and did so well to remember all those lines. It was a joy to see all the cast working together to deliver a classic piece of nostalgia"

Jenny The acting was fantastic.

Jo Just got home from watching “The Railway Children” at the Bob Hope Theatre. I really didn’t know what to expect and was definitely not disappointed! A fabulous performance from every cast member. It was all very slick and entertaining from start to finish! Well Done Eldorado, another great show to add to the extensive list! There’s 2 more performances to go tomorrow, why not get yourself a ticket and find yourself being transported down memory lane?! A lovely story, written many years ago and being brought to life by a very enthusiastic and dedicated cast! I challenge ANY audience member NOT to wave back!! 👋🏻👍🏻❤️🚂🛤️ xxx

Sue Nice to see something different.

Chloe It finished at 9.30pm - BONUS!

Bolaji "Wow! Wow! Wow! What great performances from all of you especially Jo and Dave oh my goodness that was amazing! We really enjoyed ourselves and I couldn't put my teeth away, still smiling, everyone was great. You all really perform great together and captured your audience. The roles of the children  were not easy to do, you all stepped into character and were all great."

Siobhan A fantastic profiction. What a hidden gem the theatre is as well. Very good adaptation that kept me watching and smiling to the last minute.  *****

Ellen and Kass A great family show, my little one loved it! ****

Valarie What a wonderful show at a gem of a little local theatre! An amateur production of a classic story with faultless performances, especially from the actors playing the three children. The theatre staff are most welcoming and the seating is very comfortable with good sight lines throughout. A great night out!

Lauraine and Barry The venue was just so relaxing and such great customer service. We had never been here before but will definitely return.  Delighted with the experience.  The show was an amateur production, but you would never know, my grandson was entralled by the story and characters, young and old. We thoroughly enjoyed the recital alongside the acting, helped the story along. A great evening out and a great performance of my favourite film and book. It's one to recommend to all ages.

Sarah Pinel I got asked where was I born in Yorkshire as they thought the accent was real!

Leigh Congratulations Eldorado Musical Productions for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

The Railway Children has always been one of my favourite stories and you brought it to life so well. Well done Barbara Archer and all the cast and crew for a successful production. Enjoy the rest of the run. Xxxx

Rosie - Lexi said she loved your costume and she said, didn't she play a lovely mummy ❤️ 😘 and she had a little tear in her eye at the end (no spoilers but take a tissue ) xx

Sally - Great show last night !! Your whole troupe clearly love what you do; I'm still smiling this morning, well done x

Nat The quality of acting, stage design etc was amazing xx

Cindy What a treat that was. Congratulations Eldorado Musical Productions - Members on another great production. The Railway Children was just delightful! I laughed and I cried. Perfectly cast & captivating throughout. I'm so glad I was able to join you again tonight. Bravo Barbara Archer and the wonderful talented cast & creatives. 🥰🤗 @ The Bob Hope Theater in Eltham. 2 more performances (Saturday), and tickets still available. Please go and support them, it's too good to miss!!

Susan Well done everyone involved this was very well acted - no boring  bits. Have a good last run xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Maria A huge well done to everyone involved in Eldorado’s the Railway Children. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it tonight. Very cleverly done and wonderful performances by all. Really enjoying doing front of house and look forward to seeing you all again tomorrow. Love my Eldorado family. You’re the best ❤️

Marie - Had a lovely evening watching The Railway Children at The Bob Hope theatre. Great show. Xx

Rob Ballard M.A. (Theatre Practices). The Railway Children written by Edith Nesbit adapted for the stage by Mike Kenny. Eldorado Productions has been been creating community theatre productions since apparently 1924! And this couldn’t be more of a community production. Edith Nesbit was a denizen of Eltham as was briefly Bob Hope, who is patron of the theatre. Then the cast of local theatre enthusiasts create for the local community a thoroughly enjoyable evening of theatre. Mike Kenny’s adaptation heavily relies on the three children characters played as of Dennis Potter’s “Blue Remembered Hills” by adult actors. And they are very convincingly, comedically and even moving played by Natalie Payne, Ben Guindi and Lizzie Bahai. The support of all the cast is also highly creditably, Diane Adcock's ‘Mother’ and John Adcock’s ‘Old Gentlemen’ and Allan Osborne’s ‘Perks’ and David Jordan’s Szezcpannsky all ably fill out their roles with charm and conviction. The set is an excellent mix of symbolic set and beautiful projections. All these aspects and the marshalling of the other member of the creditable ensemble is by director Barbara Archer. Overall it is an charming coming together of local people to create a classic of British culture for their community. What more can one ask of an enjoyable evening of theatre.

Clive Just spent the most fantastic week performing with the cast and crew of “The Railway Children” at the Bob Hope Theatre. What a wonderful group of people Eldorado Musical Productions are! As a first timer with them, I was made to feel so welcome and have been hugely supported by its members throughout what have been and continue to be difficult times for me. I’m very much looking forward to working with them all again for “The Addams Family” musical next year. Thank you, Eldorado!

Jacky Well done everybody both on and off stage. I really enjoyed the Railway Children yesterday. What a lot of hard work went into this production. Special mention to Barbara Archer and Natalie Jo .Xx

Wendy Well done to all involved in the production of Railway Children. My granddaughters and I had a lovely afternoon with Roberta, Phyllis and Peter.

Chris The Bob Hope Theatre is a lovely, small, local venue, with friendly staff and decent facilities. 'The Railway Children' took a while to win me over, but by the end I was with the family as they triumphed over adversity. Slightly strange to have the children played by adults, but I was able to suspend disbelief successfully enough that I could still enjoy the show. Good work Eldorado and the BHT

30 March – 2 April 2022 – KIPPS

It’s evident from the posts on Facebook there is a warm, family feeling among your members who all seem to like each other

I was pleased to see a society full of joy and enthusiasm

Cindy – There was a really warm welcome with Eldorado. No divas and lovely friendships formed x

Jo – Love the photo, and yes, Eldorado is like family – Natalie “so true!”

NODA report – Eldorado ended up with a show everyone should be proud of

Julia Bull – Well done everyone involved with Eldorado’s production of KIPPS this week. Thoroughly enjoyed it last night. You were fabulous Barbara as the dreadful Mrs Walsingham. Though you must have slipped wardrobe an extra tenner to have secured those wonderful costumes! Glamorous to the end, and some beautiful soprano vocals too.

James – Well done to you all. I saw KIPPS on Friday. What else can be said – great sets, fabulous costumes and classic songs. I have already seen Half a Sixpence so I knew some of the songs and was so tempted to stand up and dance on Flash Bang Wallop. Great work all and sorry I missed joining Eldorado this time, but maybe next time?

Elfrida – Fantastic show, as good as the West End production! First time visit to Eldorado but certainly won’t be the last! A big shout out to Debby Smith in the ensemble.

Barrie – Local theatre is definitely back…. High energy and big smiles made for a fantastic Friday night performance. Good to see some old friends too! Keep up the great work.

Bobby – Well done Eldorado on “KIPPS” Another fun and lively show making us all smiles and forget our worries! Was so good to see so many of the am dram family after so long and back doing what they love. It was really lovely watching so many friends back on stage, volunteering and attending the theatre once more. Also really loved catching up briefly with everyone after the show and hope to see you all again soon. Have a great rest of the show run.

Leigh – Well done to all my Eldorado friends for a fab performance of Kipps. Jeanette Wallis and the whole cast, crew and team did a great job. A thoroughly entertaining evening. Bravo!

Andy – Well done Eldorado for tonights performance of KIPPS. Great to see you guys back on stage.

Susie – Well done to all my friends in Eldorado on a fabulous show!!! Alan and I had a lovely evening – you were all fabulous and well done Jeanette and all concerned. It was really lovely to see your faces again.

Margaret – Andy and I had a great time last night watching KIPPS. It was great fun, the singing and the dancing was wonderful and the costumes were magnificent. The orchestra was great. It was an all round lovely evening out. Good luck for the next two performances. It was lovely to see Debby and Natalie back on stage and you could see how much you were enjoying yourselves.

Stephen – Just home from a lovely night at The Bob Hope Theatre watching the wonderful Eldorado company’s KIPPS. It was such a lovely experience watching you all performing on stage again, particularly my friends Barbara, Jo, Will, Diane, Maria and Natalie back on stage again where you all belong. I was beaming from ear to ear. What a challenging show it is, with such complicated scene changes, but the crew made it look effortless (which I’m sure it wasn’t!) The costumes were stunning.  All beautifully directed, as always, by Jeanette. Oh and Ben who played KIPPS was just charming, he captured the character perfectly. Enjoy the rest of your run.

Dom - "So it was with much interest that I made my way to the Bob Hope Theatre this evening to see Eldorado Musical Productions presentation of ‘Kipps, the new Half a Sixpence Musical’. Interest in the sense, that recently much of my theatre involvement has been the other side of the curtain, so tonight would be a rare treat to visit as a paying audience member.

So how did it fair?  Well I most definitely wasn’t disappointed. Riot of fun and good wholesome entertainment... on a school night no less.

Once again, South East London demonstrated, nee showcased the breadth and depth of talent that resides with the SE9 postcode.

Jeanette Wallis has put together an experienced cast that clearly plays to its strengths. Each member knew their marks, was confident in each other and were well directed. Costuming and styling was exceptional, with some lovely dresses and headpieces for the female cast members. I particularly liked the pastel ensemble at the end of Act 1. The set was well constructed, emphasising the period, but not distracting from the performances.

The band sounded sharp and provided great accompaniment to the performers. Very polished musical direction from Ella Ingram.

Overall the cast worked well together. Ben Guindi gave a convincing and likeable performance as Arthur Kipps. Natalie Payne brought real charm to the role of Ann Pornick. She produced some lovely vocals. Jo Butler as Helen Walsingham, brough an elegant charm to the character, with some lovely vocals later on.I doff my cap to the apprentices – solid performances. Sabrina Bell as Flo, brought some lovely touches, especially her duet with Ann. Will Hawkes once again brought great comedic charm to the role of Chitterlow. I, along with many members of the audiences were pleasantly surprised and pleased by the entrance of Wayne Texeira Morgan , as the photographer. I loved Barbara Archer's Mrs Walsingham.

Ensemble pieces were well staged and well choreographed. I really liked the micro interactions between cast members, that didn’t overpower but instead added a sense of realism to the performance. It was also great to see that each member of the cast had something to do and to add to the overall performance. Cinthea J Wythe , Sue Wootton and Katrina Summerfield… I’m looking at you.

Choreography was well done by Maria Wade. It is always tricky having a full ensemble cast moving in time on the BHT stage, especially when space is at a premium. The considered placement of Amy Fisher and Kiera Kiera Mcgovern front and centre of many of the dance numbers was an inspired move, and helped bring the movers and dancers together.

The Thursday show of each run, typically suffers from a drop in energy. From the euphoria of the opening night, to the tiredness that pervades, having spent the best part of a week in the theatre, it is easy for the energy levels to drop. It didn’t seem the case tonight. The cast seemed lively and were clearly enjoying themselves. Sitting high up in the gods, it was evident that the audience were likewise enjoying themselves.

So all in all, a job well done Eldorado. Congratulations to you all. Enjoy the rest of the run. I look forward to your next production."

Stephen – Great to be back – it’s been too long! Congratulations Eldorado on a fantastic feel good production of KIPPS. It was like being back amongst old friends with so many strong performances like old times. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and winning a bottle of wine in the raffle topped it off!

Marion – Wow!! Flash Bang Wallop What a Picture! Thank you Eldorado for a very enjoyable evenings entertainment. Plenty of energy and enthusiasm, and beautiful costumes. I thought the party scene looked stunning.

9-12 October 2019 Maskerade

Susan Chapman - Well done everyone in MASKERADE I LOVED IT HAVE A GOOD TIME THE REST OF WEEK XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Well done Jan I thought you was so good xx

Jon Mapp - that casting for Esme and Gytha looks spot on.

Shirley McMichael - looks fabulous

Cloud Singh - Casting perfection

Keith - The practical effects and puppetry were really effective.  Well Done!

Martha Berry - Thank you so much for sharing.  It has been too long since I read the novel, but I could definitely name some of the characters on sight.  The Nanny Ogg caught the mischief perfectly and I could see Granny Weatherwax in the posture and gestures.  Agnes was just too thin but otherwise good.

Douglas Sutherland-Bruce - that really looks amazingly good.  The costumes are superb

Susan Owen - Congratulations on the show, great performances... and Sarah you look great!

Bethan Campbell - Well done all in Maskerade. We loved the show. Jan Ho in particular as Nanny Ogg was a favourite for me.  Erin (age 9) was laughing quite a bit although she was confused about the "pudding scene"...kept asking me what was happening and I just kept saying they're very hot!!  Also well done Will Charlotte Hawkes Death of Rats a triumph.

Jane Hughes - Massive well done to everyone involved in Maskerade.  We thoroughly enjoyed it.  Hope the rest of the week goes well

Teresa - Thoroughly enjoyed it - loved the rapport between the two witches - And the accents!!

Gemma - The show was amazing and funny.  The fun, effort, joy and passion was shown in the performance.  The messages came through about life and how to live it merged well with the comedy.  Well done to you all and I have you have more fun next time.

Jo Hickman - Just a note to say how much we enjoyed Maskerade.  It was great fun and very professional.  Everyone did a great job with apparently no nerves or errors even tho we went on the first night.  Great costumes too and clever scenery.  Well done.  It was the first time that we had been to the Bob Hope Theatre so we had no idea what we it was like but we were quite impressed.  A lovely intimate theatre with clean modern facilities.

Carmela Belandres - Very well done - Great job

Deb Norton - Well done Eldorado for a great show last night - esp Jan Ho!

Barry Pavey - Well done for last night, we thought Nanny Ogg was brilliant, as was Walter and Mr Pounder (Steptoe!) Salzseller sounded like Richard Wilson (I don't believe it!).

Lilly Prall - Really enjoy show masquerade! Great cast , especially christine ( kirstine ) very proud of my daughter

Liz - We thoroughly enjoyed Friday evening Andrée and full credit to the cast who were superb - you in particular. Really don't know how you remembered all your lines! Jan Ho made a lovely Nanny Ogg and did brilliantly as did all the cast. Dave was made for the part of Dr. Undershaft and the hair suited him well I can see back combing will become a part of his daily routine from now on hehe!

Hi all what a show , brilliant performances by all . Well done. You made a wonderful witch . Can’t wait for the next production"
